When Mikey’s wife announces she wants a divorce, the three guys make a pact to wholeheartedly enjoy single life and to absolutely, under no circumstances, enter a relationship. Naturally, this pact is destined to be over as soon as its begun, as Jason meets the girl of his dreams , Daniel realises that he likes the token female member of their group as more than a friend, and Mikey tries to patch things up with his wife . After a night of vigorous coitus, Imogen Poots’ Ellie giggles resentment for not having made Zac Efron’s Jason wait longer for sex. He replies with “I was going to make you wait too. But then I realised, I’m a dude.” With that, we get a solid idea on the film’s perspective on modern masculinity, with characters not above lying and manipulation in order to “punch a card”. That quality makes them ideally suited to committing to stay single alongside a pal who’s suddenly split from his wife.

One is freshly separated from his cheating wife; one is a serial ladykiller who meets his match but is too set in his ways to commit; and one gradually catches feelings for his platonic wingwoman. The prior two stories are par for the course, despite Zac Efron and Imogen Poots being rather likable together. Best pals Jason and Daniel indulge in casual flings and revel in their carefree, unattached lives. After learning that the marriage of their friend Mikey (Michael B. Jordan) is over, they gladly welcome him back into their circle. The three young men make a pact to have fun and avoid commitment. However, when all three find themselves involved in serious relationships, they must keep their romances secret from one another.

Is an accurate portrayal of today’s scene and the kind of conversations guys have about dating, I don’t know…but if it is, nothing’s going to change until they start having different ones, and until better questions are asked. Tom Gormican is writing and directing the project about three New York guys who pledge to stay single even if they fall in love. Jordan also stars in Fruitvale with Octavia Spencer produced by Forest Whitaker and his Significant Productions partner Nina Yang. He also appeared in Anthony Hemingway’s Red Tails, Chronicle and on TV had recurring roles on Parenthood and Friday Night Lights.

I didn’t care for any of the characters and the acting was just so-so. I really didn’t pay attention to the trailers for this movie I just saw that it had Miles Teller, Zac Efron, and Michael B. Jordan in it and thought maybe it would be funny. I won’t say the film didn’t make me laugh, because it did a couple times. The truly only really funny part is where Zac’s character shows up to the birthday party in his ridiculous outfit . That was the most ‘awkward’ moment in the film as well. Michael B Jordan, Zac Efron and Miles Teller are clearly having a great time throughout this movie, but it’s too bad their potential is weighed down by the typical tropes you find in rom-coms.

Jason is sitting on a bench in New York City waiting for someone to arrive. A voiceover explains that he has been waiting for a long time, but to explain why, he needs to go back to the beginning. Jason begins by telling the audience that every relationship reaches the “So…” moment, where someone in the relationship will want to take the relationship to a more serious place.
